V-BIOCHAR (Vermicompost & Biochar Integration for Climate-Smart Farming)
The V-BIOCHAR project aims to improve soil health, reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Pursat Province, Cambodia. By combining biochar—produced from local agricultural waste—with vermicompost, the project introduces an innovative, cost-effective soil enhancement technique that boosts productivity and supports a circular economy. The initiative tackles Cambodia’s dependence on imported fertilizers and underutilized organic waste, offering an environmentally friendly alternative that enhances climate resilience.
Implemented by ADRA Cambodia in partnership with ADRA Czech Republic and the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the project empowers small-scale farmers—particularly women and youth—through training, technology transfer, and small enterprise development. V-BIOCHAR promotes knowledge sharing, community collaboration, and sustainable business models, laying the foundation for long-term impact and future scale-up across other regions of Cambodia.
