Development of sustainable waste management system in Pshav-Khevsureti protected area and adjacent mountainous territories

Georgian Waste Management Code introduced in 2015 sets up the obligation to adopt municipal waste management plans as well as the obligation to plan measures to be implemented in order to establish separate collection and recovery of municipal waste. Introduction of such systems is particularly complicated in the mountain areas, where the landscape characteristics create barriers in waste collection and treatment.

The project creates a model waste management plan based on Czech experiences, i.e. professional software ArcGIS, which enables designing and graphically illustrating the optimal trails for waste collection.
