Integrated Smart Urban Mobility Plan for Kutaisi
The Expertise on Demand (EoD) project in Kutaisi involves a collaboration between a team of Czech urban planning experts and the local municipality, supported by REC Caucasus. Led by Smart Plan, a vendor comprising experts from leading Czech universities, the project aims to develop an Integrated Smart Urban Mobility Plan (ISUMP) for Kutaisi. The team is working closely with local stakeholders and partners, who assist with data collection, surveys, and provision of necessary information. The primary goal of this initiative is to support Kutaisi in creating a sustainable urban mobility plan that promotes low emission development, integrated and sustainable mobility, and effective land management in and around the city.
The specific objective of the project is to provide technical assistance in developing the ISUMP for Kutaisi City. This plan is based on eight key principles that align with the European Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) guidelines. These principles include planning for sustainable mobility within the functional urban area, cooperating across institutional boundaries, involving citizens and stakeholders, assessing current and future performance, defining a long-term vision with a clear implementation plan, developing all transport modes in an integrated manner, arranging for monitoring and evaluation, and ensuring quality. By adhering to these principles, the project aims to create a comprehensive and effective mobility plan that addresses the city’s current and future needs.
