Local early flash flood warning system for Ričina basin

Climate change has exacerbated the risk of flood hazards globally. Thus, the project reflects this by creating a local early warning system, based on independent, autonomous and low-cost monitoring devices, such as rain-gauging stations and water level gauging stations. They are located in flood prone communities and provide critical and timely information to the local inhabitants on flash flood occurrences.

The location identified for the project implementation is in the Ričina river basin. Target beneficiaries are the local communities of Omolje, Seonica and Crvenica in the Municipality of Tomislavgrad.

The project has been coordinated by EZ Hydroinformatics s.r.o., which was established by Dr. Evžen Zeman, a hydroinformatics pioneer in the the Czech Republic, and Central to Eastern Europe.
