PARTICIPATIVE RUSTAVI – Improving communication and citizen participation in Rustavi

Although various local and international organizations have been making great efforts over the years to increase the involvement and participation of the population in Georgia, progress in this area is lower than desired. In the city of Rustavi, even though local self-government public organizations are quite actively trying to promote the creation of various mechanisms of engagement and effective operation, they are still not widely used by the citizens. Moreover, Rustavi has not developed its own communication strategy yet therefore, its interaction with citizens is uncoordinated without any specific focus and without efficiency.

The objective of the project is to supports the long-term efforts of the Rustavi municipality by improving communication and participation of its citizens in the development of the city by the development of the Rustavi Communication Strategy, followed by the Rustavi Communication and Participation App and a subsequent awareness-raising campaign.

The project is led by MEPCO (International Advisory Centre of Municipalities), a joint venture of the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic and the company VNG supporting local and regional authorities while addressing their quality assurance and quality control of services rendered.
