ACROSS – Innovative Urban Support Scheme in the City of Rustavi

In the Georgian city of Rustavi, many enterprises are looking for employees, but suffer from the lack of a qualified workforce to choose from. This disequilibrium is caused, amongst others, by the weak link between educational institutions as the knowledge providers and enterprises to match their needs, which subsequently leads to slow economic growth.

Project ACROSS wants to implement an innovative approach of a coordinated effort among quadruple helices key players (public, businesses, educational institutions and non-governmental organizations), which would be supported by a digital platform for matchmaking and exchange of good practice. The resulting impact of these newly created partnerships shall increase economic activity and engagement and nurture a range of fast-growing, high potential new interventions in the city.

The project has been managed by the International Advisory Centre of Municipalities (MEPCO) that provides consulting, management, training and research services to local governments and regions, their institutions and associated businesses.
