Development of Mental Health Peer Work Capacities in Georgia
This expertise builds on the first steps for MH peer-work in Georgia project that started via the 2022-2023 Challenge Fund. In this ambitious project, coordinated and supported by UNDP CO and the Czech Embassy, 6 peer workers and 19 MH professionals are receiving a 90-hour long training to create solid peer-work capacities in Georgia.
Building on the Standards of Peer Work in Georgia and first trained 12 peer-workers (6 remained active) as part of the First Steps Towards Development of Peer Work in Georgia Challenge Fund project, Czech experts work to strengthen local capacity by working with both peer-workers and mental health professionals.
To draw attention to this endeavour, a mini-conference was hosted by the Czech Embassy for the World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2024. H.E. Petr Kubernát the Ambassador of Czech Republic in Georgia and Nils Christensen, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative opened the conference. A working group established in 2024 consists of 2 Czech trainers, 7 peer-workers and 7 health professionals. Work is set to continue in 2025.
