Automated parking system with integrated charger for electric vehicles in Chisinau

Electric vehicles (EV) have become increasingly popular in Europe. The popularity of EVs grows also in Moldova. Both the Moldovan government and UNDP have previously supported further development of EV charging infrastructure.

This Challenge Fund project implemented by Green Centre s.r.o will allow drivers to charge their vehicles during parking, pay for the charging at automatic payment station and receive free parking if they charged. At the same time the system will monitor the parking places dedicated to electric vehicles and inform operator if there are vehicles parked that are not being charged. Since these different features and their combination represent a complete novelty in Moldova, this project will serve as a model for possible scale-up of automated parking systems with EV charging stations.

Project’s local partner EV POINT is a major provider of charging services for EVs in Moldova. In 2020, EV POINT has won the support of UNDP and Moldovan government, together they built 22 charging points. It currently has a nationwide network of 46 charging stations including 20 in Chisinau mostly situated at petrol station and at grocery store locations.
