Strategic Benchmarking for Local Economic Development in Moldova

Strategic planning is key to the effectiveness and sustainable development of any region and helps to set objectives, measures to achieve them and identify opportunities and risks.  However, the public authorities in Moldova often do not have sufficient knowledge, experience, and skills in correctly planning their resources for the regional development programs and lack proficient statisticians, who would carefully analyse the socio-economic development.

The specific objective of the project is to transfer Czech know-how and innovative solutions in municipal strategic benchmarking and strategic planning. By implementing relevant indicators, strategic management processes, benchmarking analysis or quality control methods, the municipalities will be able to plan and execute more suitable actions towards the local economic development within its ecosystem. Therefore, such projects should contribute to the Moldovan strategic planning in compliance with the European standards, as well as effective time management.

The project has been managed by the Czech Institute for Effective Management (CIEM), a non-governmental organisation providing consultancy services for municipalities in areas of project management, change management, strategic planning, budgeting, and quality management.
