Herd Book Maintenance for Income Diversification of Dairy Farmers
Agriculture is an important economic sector for Bosnia and Herzegovina – dairy farming dominates agricultural production and its support is essential as the total livestock production contributes to almost 60% of the country’s agricultural GDP.
The project, whose main beneficiary has been Dairy Farmers Association of Republic of Srpska (Udruženje poljoprivrednih proizvođača – mljekara RS) supports the development and sustainability of milk production at the Association’s dairy farms by using innovative methods of herd book maintenance based on the use of modern technologies. This kind of modernization should lead to the subsequent improvement of herd book recording level, its quality, and should make the cattle breeding sector more competitive in the EU market.
The project has been implemented by GEOtest, a company working in the field of environmental protection, agriculture, forestry and management of natural resources.
